Sansevieria do best in medium to bright light but can tolerate lower light situations. Many a snake plant has been killed by overwatering, so if they are in low light situations water them less frequently. If they are in medium light, water only when the soil becomes quite dry. If in high light, they’ll probably need more water but never allow it to stand in water. Snake plants can rot and they smell horrific! If given enough light though, a stem will appear from the plant and an aromatic white flower will follow.
This plant is alright with regular potting soil and may need to be repotted in the spring every two to three years. If cared for well, it could live for twenty years or more.
