Monstera deliciosa

Monsteras are everywhere right now, and with good reason. They’re easy to grow and tolerate you forgetting about their existence every now and again. Plus, mature plants produce wonderful dramatic, dark glossy green, perforated leaves.

In the wild, the holes help the plant withstand harsh winds. Healthy plants will produce pencil-thick, aerial roots that help gather moisture from the air.

Monstera likes a little something special when it comes to potting material though: two parts potting soil, two parts peat moss, one part sand. Moderate to bright light suits this plant best; keep it out of direct sun. Allow the soil to dry to within an inch of the surface between watering and water less in the winter than in the summer.
